Here's the place to chat about all things classic. Also includes a feedback forum where you can communicate directly with the editorial team - don't hold back, they'd love to know what they're doing right (or wrong of course!)

I think it would be very useful if you could email the registered users. Do you have the means to send out an email that large?
I think there is a feature in phpBB that allows you to email but in batches ...
Otherwise any good email system should allow a good number of BCC addresses.

I have access to the backend database and what i have done is export the complete user list with all profile fields including email addresses and post counts.
What I propose is to filter everyone with a post count of say 20+ and run a mailmerge. The forums email goes out through an account with Microsoft 365 so there is no issue with sending any quantity of email but using the filter i mentioned shows 183 users

Ages ago (I think June 23rd 2022) the forum suddenly became inaccessible, just got an error message. You now appear to have woken it up again, so thanks very much for that.
I think that's the reason why I have not popped in,but my memory is quite vague, due to life getting the way

I did ask on the PC Facebook page but no response...
Is there a way to link this site to fb for when I break the Internet again?

Something broke the website the forum sits on .. but as we couldn't access the site, we couldn't contact anyone to get it fixed!

I think with only 183 registered users this forum is going to have little dynamism to attract more users. Sad really as I actively avoid Facebook and all other social media sites.

Hmm, not sure where you get that number from, we have 1897 registered members and after the amount of cleaning up I've done I'm pretty sure that none of them are spammers. I take your point about facebook, I'm not on it either and have no intention of joining. I wonder if it's a reflection of a waning popularity (and IMHO quality of content) of Practical Classics magazine itself?
