Ford Anglia 106e (LHD) Estate
Well it's taken 5 years, but I'm back on the classic scene!
While still pursuing a Mustang (2019 Bullitt) I am missing having a tinkering project, especially during COVID. I had considered a realm of possibilities but all were dismissed for various reasons. 60's Muscle cars cost more than my house. 80's muscle cars do nothing for me, MGB's (pre Abingdon pillow dash)are more money than I'm willing to spend. Finally, I settled on the Chevy Corvair but while they are cool, the don't give me a spark like old British metal that I grew up with does. The final nail in that coffin was finding owners groups to generally be arrogant and dismissive of new owners when I bought Corvair engine to rebuild for some fun.
I was chatting to my dad about this same thing and he said 'Do you want my Anglia?' Some of you may recall he bought a LHD Estate that was a southern France, rust free barn find about 6 years ago when he intended to retire there. It never happened and given the amount of work required to convert it to RHD, it has sat at the back of his garage behind other current projects. Naturally I leapt at the chance so am currently arranging to have it shipped over to the US where I'm told it will be 1 of only 3 surviving estates. I will keep you posted but very excited to get a project again.
It needs some work, so the first plan is to get it running and then paint up the flaky parts of the bodywork. So for now, here she is:
Wont be many updates until I get it obviously but when I do, I'll be sure to post regularly.

Had a couple of these back in the day. They were firmly in the 'banger' category. 1200 engine had a habit of knocking out the bottom end. This had happened to both of mine. Killed both of them.

I believe the 1200's have a 3 bearing crank and were known for that.

Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Hell yeah! An Anglia in any form must be pretty rare in savable condition, but an estate, just one of three in the USA? That's some top grade unobtanium right there!
Enjoy the refurbishing job and stay safe.

Lovely!! I have fond memories of my dads orange anglia estate.. one of his many bangers that he had.. only way to stop it was pull the handbrake on and stamp on the brakes hard..

Thank you! Yup, the other two are in California I'm told, so I know I'll have something unique at car shows.
