Re: Our Morris Vehicles.
What a nice pair
By coincidence I sat and watched a repeat of Wheeler Dealers yesterday where they fully rebuilt a Traveller - fascinating to see the chassis with all the timber and rear end removed - I hadn't realised the roof was aluminium - and then to see it all get rebuilt again - working with wood seems so much easier than working with metal

The only Traveller I ever saw that had a chassis was one that someone - possibly the Beardmore Bros - built on the chassis from a van, only the commercials came with chassis.Topaz wrote:What a nice pair

I like the Austin-badged LCV there, someone from this very forum was after buying a set of wheels from one of these to upgrade their Minor. Is that a Dublin CKD van or one that was held back for UK registration? Either way, nice!

"Home is where you park it", so the saying goes. That may yet come true..

Thanks for that - just showing that I haven't a clue what I'm talking about half the time

Re: Our Morris Vehicles.
Do not think re-timbering a Morris Minor Traveller is a quick or easy job.
To carry it out properly (not many Travellers have been re-timbered correctly) you are looking at about 150-180 hours work.
When the timber is removed many other jobs come to light.....
Inner wing repairs.
Rear floor repairs and a repaint.
B post repairs.
Replacement rear wings.
Rear valance replacement.
New headlining.
New hardura to load area and rear of seat.
Strip internal timber and re-finish.
Clean all metal fittings.
Spray panels that fit into rear doors and side panels.
Fit new gutter channel.
Fit new sliding window channels.
Fit glass sliding side windows.
Fit rear door glass.
Prepare and apply at least 4 coats of Danish oil.
Etc Etc.
This is if you are carrying out the job properly,do not confuse with bodge jobs.
