What classic vehicles have you seen?
Hello guys,
What classic vehicles have you seen in your area?
I saw a Rover SD1 a couple of weeks ago and a red Mercedes stackheadlight this afternoon. Also I saw 2 old Volvo horsebox lorries pasting one another at the same time on our road, which is the main road between Hastings and Battle.

Hard to make out, but it's two old Ford Cortinas on a lorry on the way to the scrappy. (Possibly Granadas?)
The beige one is a 2.81 Ghia while the black one on top is a 2.81 Ghia X.
Both had tow bars and going by the state of the underside, terminally rusty.
On a brighter note I spotted a very nice Lotus Europa in red going through Gilford village, Co. Down on Saturday 26th.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Hi seen all within 200 yds. from home, parked by the side of the road and in use.
A very hot Imp tuned to h*ll and back by Janspeed.
A Frazer Nash chain driven jobby.
A AC Ace.
A 11/2 litre SS Jag.
I wonder what happened to them, well it was in 1966 ish. Sorry if it got you going but it just simply sparked the memory of what seemed to be 'normal' then.
Cheers.
Geoff.

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
To-day I saw a Rover P6 and a late 1960's (C Reg) Hillman Automatic Estate. I'm not sure of the model as it was that fancy joined up writing on the back.
P.S. I have just found out from Google it was a Hillman Super Minx Estate, like in the picture below.
Anyway does anyone know what happened to the Hillman Car Company?

Hillman were part of the Rootes Group, who got into bed with Chrysler, who then adopted the Talbot name here.
Then came Peugeot's alliance with Talbot, Peugeot-Talbot eventually dropped the Talbot name and all we're left with now is Peugeot.
I'd sooner have a Hunter than a 206 thanks.

I saw Volvo 240 sedan earlier to-day. Like the one in this photo, except the one I saw was dark red.

Me too, but I also spotted some classics, such as an early '60s Yank machine in blue with white roof being driven through Spennymoor when I was down that way earlier. I think it may have been a '61 Chevy of some sort but taking photos wasn't possible at opposite sides of the road with both vehicles moving.
MGBs were out and about in the usual healthy numbers, as were Morris Minors.
A Renault 18 saloon was seen leaving Birtley on the A167 as I came North that way to join the A1. Haven't seen one of those in a few months and it looked tidy.
Finally, a very pretty example of another recent Renault product was being thrashed around the Kelly's Kitchen roundabout near Cramlington. That was a 1st generation R5 "Le Car" special edition in the silver and red livery, it too appeared to be a nice one, are these '70s Renaults the next big trend to take the old car world by storm I wonder?

I saw my three when I got my bike out of the garage this morning.
Seriously, I saw a Morris Minor go past the shop easlier in the week, plus there's an old Series Land Rover and an Alfa Spyder in the garage up the road.
