VW K70 LS
VW K70 LS
Hi,
I was lucky enough to have seen this car advertised early last year in Practical Classics mag.
The car is a 64k mile K70 one of only 3 on the road in the UK. I bought it from the cars owner, an older gent from Devon. He had stopped driving it some time ago as his health and age had caught up with him. he was the second owner
and had wax oiled it every year since 75! he was laso aware of the cars achilles heel, namely heat sink and rust in the bulkhead. This was fixed with an electric fan for the rad and the removal of the sound deadening material from behind the dash(top bloke)
This car is VW's first watercooled, front engined and front wheel drive car. The reasons for which are this car was already in production for NSU when VW took them over in 1969. I never had keeping this car 'stock' in mind as I am into the Resto-Cal scene, so period wheels and acsessorries and a low stance are essencial.
I'll stop now, as I can feel you all glazing over.
Cheers, al.
solid, and still on It's og Porsche pattern steels.
Fogs had to go, the badge was in the boot.
The ugly steering wheel is going to be replaced with an early NSU one.
The strange 4 cylinder 1800 unit!
The day I picked it up.
And today.

That's dope
Amazing what a few subtle mods can do to a car,I have to say that I like that steering wheel though.

I have to admit; I'm with the 02meister about the steering wheel but hey, your ride, your way and besides, it's still incredibly, erm, I'm guessing that "dope" is a compliment so ok then, dope it is. Me? I just think the car's well chuffin' horny.

Thanks fellas
The steering wheel was a VW parts bin job! and was used on Type 4's and late Bugs.
The early NSU designed one was a dished 3 arm type that looked wonderful. There is one for sale
on German evil-bay at the moment, but It's about 200 quid.

As for the steering wheel, I bought a Ro80 one that looks great, although the boss was far too large and the indicator stalk didn't clear it. Anyone need a steering wheel?
