Screen Washer
Screen Washer
The vehicle is a Bedford CA with a bag-type reservoir (a la Rootes) which for years worked well using an after market electric pump. Then it didn't. The pump and non-return valve are both new and the whole system has been thoroughly cleaned. Operation was very intermittent for five minutes but now no water whatever is being drawn from the bag although pump itself seems to be working fine. Help!

Re: Screen Washer
Try disconnecting the hose at the pump outlet and see if it's pumping properly without it. That will give you a better idea of where the problem lies (I'd suspect something between the pump and washer jets). If there's no water coming from the pump (or low pressure), it's either not getting water or is kaput: it's probably not worth trying to fix the pump - they are fairly cheap on eBay (I bought a complete setup for under £9.00 last month).
Re: Screen Washer
If the motor's running you've got a blockage. Strip and clean, starting at the nozzles.

If you disconnect the pump from the input line and put your finger over the pump then run it, can you feel any suction?
if so if you try sucking through the pipe from the tank do you get any movement?
Have you got the NRV the correct way round?
Have you got the input and output lines on the pump on the correct ports
Is the pump wired correctly or is it spinning backwards?
It is also possible you have a split in the line somewhere so the pump is just sucking air.
