Rubber glue?

#1 Post by davemorris » Wed Jan 26, 2011 9:22 pm

I am wondering if anyone knows of any 'glue' you can use to repair rubber grommets etc. I have some I cannot get off the car to replace, without taking lots of pieces off, and would like to find some sort of rubber glue to repair them in situ. I have tried silicon sealer, but it does not stick to the rubber (though it normally sticks to everything including my fingers). Is there anything out there I could use. I seem to remember something called rubber solution from years ago?

Rubber solution sticks natural rubber to itself, so should work, but it's usually possible to find new ones in nitrile which will last forever.

Bicycle shops used to keep it, though you might have to buy a complete puncture repair kit nowadays.

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Many thanks Terry and JPB. This site is amazing, answers so quickly, so many thanks also to those who set it up, that seems to be Neil. Is that the Neil from PC who loves anything made in Coventry?

Thanks Jimmybob.
If the rubber solution does not work, I will try this.
