FIAT TIPO MISFIRE?

#1 Post by miken » Fri May 13, 2011 7:40 pm

My 1995 Fiat Tipo 1.4ie, with 90,000 miles, has developed a misfire which only happens from cold, and persists for the first half mile or mile or so. After that it settles down and runs fine. It is at its worst the more trottle you give it, being gentle for that first mile minimises the problem. It has had the head skimmed, new HT leads and has just been serviced. Can anyone tell me what I should check please. Thank you.

I'd start with distributor cap and rotor....
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Coolant temperature sensor? (If its fitted to this one, I think it is)
On (more modern / less old) cars with a bit of electronics, the CTC acts like an auto choke, so if its duff, the car will underfuel when cold making it a PITA to drive until it warms up a bit.

On the plus side one of those should be easy to obtain for between £10-30
Once you can get to it, the little so and so just screws in
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound

Biting. It's like kissing except there's a winner

coolant sensor sounds like a possibility, though it's t'other way round on the K series, if the sensor is disconnected it overfuells

coil pack/packs as well might be suspect.
1.4 K series Midget. Bwaahahaha lunacy. www.robsmidget.com
1968 Series 2A. Lunacy of a more sedate variety.
