There are a few causes. Firstly, what ratio are you using? The recommendation is 50\50 but you might like to try making it thinner. A viscosity gauge is useful for this.

Are you using the recommended pressure for your gun?

What tip and needle are you using and what type of gun is it? LVLP, HVLP etc.

What is the ambient temperature that you are spraying in?

OK with that gun and needle, you should have just over 20psi with the trigger pulled. Make sure your gun gauge gives that reading WITH THE TRIGGER PULLED AND PASSING AIR. Then thin your paint to 60 percent thinners, try up to 75 percent, although that weak is normally only used for final coat. Bear in mind that the more you thin it, the more likely it is that you will get runs.

Are you setting the gun up on a test surface? You should be holding the gun about 6 inches from the panel, with a fan size of about the same. Adjust the material control to give you a nice vertical pattern that is not centre or top/bottom heavy. If you are getting orange peel, keep the material control set at just enough, if you go too far with it, then orange peel will result.

The other point of note with that gun is to set the air throttle correctly. It should be in about the centre of its travel. Easy to check, pull the trigger and adjust for maximum depression. Then leave it alone and set the pressure at the compressor regulator.
