Full throttle power loss

#1 Post by Retroste66 » Fri Feb 18, 2022 7:14 pm

I've fitted a replacement carb on my datsun 1200 because I couldn't get the old one running properly. The new one is much better except when using full throttle. The last 1/2 inch of peddle travel cause the engine to dump the power and bog down. Ease off the pedal and normal running resumes. Any ideas please? It's a 1970's Hitachi carb.
I've not touched the mixture screw as its fitted with a tamper seal.

Ofcourse that would be the best idea, but that would be too easy. Part of the fun is trying to mend things yourself! Or not!!
In this case it happened to be a secondry main jet blockage. So blocked I couldnt even blow it out. But swapping it for the old one sorted the issue.
