Mitsubishi Pajero Mini for sale or swap....

#1 Post by JPB » Tue Sep 10, 2019 7:35 pm

Here: https://www.gumtree.com/p/mitsubishi/mi ... 1350263261

Any specific images could be sent by PM to any potential buyer, I get that the eventual sale of the car may not come from this post but you never know..

I would swap for a good, pre-loved Tudor Black Bay with cash either way and subject to mutual examination of goods before any arrangement is agreed. Other watches of a value around that of the car would be considered, but please no quartz pieces unless rare or otherwise interesting.
Similarly interesting audio gear considered too; Quad ESL speakers, classic Thorens turntables, even a JVC M90 boombox if mint and with its wired remote.
JB I didn't go looking for the current fleet, they just sort of followed me home and now they won't leave without an extradition order from the Japanese government..

Yes mate, I don't need two 4x4 vehicles and the HiAce is even better at driving slowly through deep clarts because it has a large, low revving Diesel with lots of lovely torque and of course, the hot & cold running water and a shower.
I may keep the wee Mitsubishi though, as you can see from the images in the Gumtree ad it takes up very little space and is so light that it hasn't even sunk into the lawn in spite of the recent floods.. I could park Yoda there but the tall van weighs the guts of three and a half tons thanks to furniture and onboard fresh and waste water tanks.

Although not as versatile as the tall van, the tiny 4x4 is essentially one hell of a good winter car, great fun to drive (even on a road) and is every bit as trustworthy as the daily bB, which is now on 181000 and showing no signs of using oil, rattling from its timing chains or losing compression.
The Paj can do this sort of thing: https://youtu.be/6uXPLZcZouI and it's also a really good city car as its turning circle is only fractionally larger than the 24ft of a Reliant Kitten, plus apart from its height, the tiny w4nker (English translation of its name from the Spanish) occupies only the same amount of road space as its namesake, the actual mini, no, not the large BMW one but the real, 1959-2001 car that redefined small.

You could always fly across from that France and drive the thing home, just fetch a huge wad of cash in a money belt and don't drive it across the channel, it's good, but it's not Jesus so you'll need to take it home on a boat..

Well that's that sold.. I'd almost given up on finding a new home for the little car, so was beginning to feel relieved that I'd have an excuse to keep it, but then a very nice chap who's into his motorcycles - and presumably wanted a car that sounds like one  - got in touch and asked whether it was still available.
He made a very reasonable offer, which I promptly but politely declined, I made a counter offer that was very close to the asking price and just an hour ago, the tiniest, cutest usable off road device in the world headed off to its new home in something called "Lincolnshire", which is apparently a county. The guy is an expat Northumbrian and a Blyth Spartans supporter, and he seemed delighted to find that his prize is exactly as I'd said in the listings on C&C, Gumtree and Gazette classifieds, he plugged his music storage device into the fm microtransmitter that I'd given him as part of the deal - so that the Japanese radio could be used to provide some tunes to suit the fella's taste - and his satnav into the tab lighter socket which would show him how to get home.

I immediately missed the car. Right up 'til the point at which I looked again at the envelope full of lovely money that I can now spend on the campervan, which although perfectly healthy is going to get a few upgrades.

Unless of course anyone can tempt me with another way in which to waste my windfall!

Please keep suggestions reasonable. I've already committed some coin of the realm to a rare, old front wheel drive motorcycle that was listed in a well known sales site recently. Unlike most listings, which are two dimensional, this one was in the form of a hologram which, as soon as I clicked at the photos illustrating the bike, leapt out of the page and told me to buy it. Or maybe the wild mushrooms that formed part of yesterday's evening meal weren't cooked through sufficiently?
Either way, I've already given in to temptation, off out today to buy a new lid as my last one is showing signs of structural cracks and besides; I need something fifties style but with modern levels of head protection just in case I fall off and damage the road, maybe an open face or spiky one with flying goggles to match the 'sickle's heady top speed of 28mph.
I can justify this buy though, as the two wheeled thing is capable of 200+mpg according to the majority of reports on the site belonging to the owners' club that caters for the make, on which more once it arrives. No clues, but its clever transmission layout uses the front tyre as the filler in a CVT pulley sandwich so provides VanDoorne-style gearless operation in the style of Dafs and small Volvos of a bygone age. It isn't Japanese, which is strange.
