Blackhall Colliery UK car meet

#1 Post by Mitsuru » Mon Jun 02, 2014 12:40 am

Here we are less than a mile from home, how more local can you get.

I had been told about this little car show and was under the impression there would have been more cars and that the even
would have been promoted more. Like hell was it there was a couple of A4 sized bits of paper at one end of the road saying
it was there and that was it! I did warn a couple of guys that this was going to happen but I only live here so what do I
know, I didn't know that there was one here last year unless I had been told!

They were saying there was going to be 50+ cars

Some interesting stuff there and wait, what's going on here? Hmm:

The enquiry is complete. The vehicle details for XPT 163 are:
Date of Liability 01 10 2014
Date of First Registration 25 09 1979
Year of Manufacture 1979
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1275cc
CO₂ Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate 12 Months Rate
£79.75 £145.00

1979? Whatever! If you're going to register a very late mini on a '70s identity, then surely you'd go the whole way and just use a VED-free log book?

Anyway, from little acorns, etc. and chances are that thie event will grow in coming years but they all have to start somewhere.
Are you planning to be at Seaburn next Sunday?

Who's to say it isn't largely a 1979 mini. I had a 1971, with mk1 rear lights, mk3 doors and a metro turbo engine. (I loved that car!) GNY328K has been off the road for so many years it must be coke cans by now :(

Terry, I've been up close & personal with it at another event and it's a very late MK5 shell, in the image only the front panel gives the game away but it's no more born in 1979 than I was.. ;) But I guess that at least it's another mini that still exists and that has to be a good thing.

It may have been re-shelled with a heritage part or had the available repair panels put on even though they aren't quite correct.

I agree it is more likely that the car is significantly newer and has had it's VIN swapped to keep the plate from a completely rotten (stolen/crashed) mini but still, benefit of the doubt.

just so you guys know, there hasn't been any real advertising of the event even in the village.
And@there were a dozen classic vehcles headingnaway from it as they coldn't find it! The event
has been running a few years now, and after being told whois running it(not bygonessociety management) he could not orginise a P'up in a brewery(yes he is known to the family).

There were cars there chav mobilies which made mine look concours! And I swear had a bumper
I had seen at a scrayard the day before and was in better condition than the rest of the car!

The Bygones Society which used to hold the proper meet at hartlepool historic quay in the marina
will be holding there big meet in hartlepool but at the large tescos in the town rather than the marina
the tescos manager is a petrol head and knows it will be good for business too!
