#1 Post by Mitsuru » Wed Aug 14, 2013 11:15 pm

Another Meet I missed also with the North East Street Rod Club and every
other car club was there too at the Metro Centre gathering every 2nd
Wednesday of the month. These photos are from a fellow retro rides forum
member so I hope he doesn't mind me posting them up here!

Wish I had gone after seeing these pics, enjoy there is something for everybody.

 SECOND Wednesday you say? Awww, bugger! That'll be how there were only two Pops and a Minor there last wednesday. When did it change?

That MK1 Fiesta is stunning. 8-)

Here are my Photos from the meet at the Metro Center.
I got there at about 5pm to avoid traffic. The light was going
by the time most of thew cars were getting there. So I'm sorry
for some of the quality of my photographs. POlus I was in too
much pain so left just after 7pm I had been hobbling around too
much!

I got there late after I'd had a student down to Sunderland for a placement interview and ended up running her all the way back to Brunswick when her taxi cried off because of engine death, but at least I eventually made the last outdoor one of the year.
I didn't see that red Nova (top of your post) but the omnipresent green Montego as seen immediately under the Nova was still around when the last few of us finally set off home at around 9:30pm. If the hot hatch crowd don't start behaving themselves when the meet comes outdoors again next March or April (TBC) then the Police and the church commisioners are in very real danger of preventing any further events on the Metro Retail Park. All because some stupid kids are incapable of using a clutch pedal properly.

It was good to see some exhibits that hadn't been out yet, typical as the season draws to a close really, and there'll be more "new" stuff out at Brunton and (the week after that) Ryhope.

Cheers for posting the pics Aron, at least your camera renders something in low light unlike the newfangled type on my current phone which disproves the theory that size is more important than quantity in megapixel terms. I'd happily have lived with one speaker fewer in exchange for a camera as good as that on the previous phone. :|

John, the camera is a 5 mega pixel one on my old symbian operated nokia c6-00.
I hope to see you at Ryhope on the 27th of this month. Make yourself known I
shouldn't be that hard to spot!

As for the Nova, the chap and his(I amuse it was) wife left just after it got dark
and it started to sporadically spit on to ran.

It's rain and the wind is blowing it in from the sea, so mine won't be ready for
Ryhope at this rate.

The cars that caught my eye were the MK2 Cav, the Rover SD1, that red Nova (love how the roof lifts up so you can get in!) and the Astra G pick up (which has been done well if the photo is anything to go by).

Dragging it back off topic (sorry!) again, it isn't just the megapixels that count. A decent lens also helps. My recent photos that I've posted have been taken on my Nokia N8 which goes up to 12 megapixels. I have it set to 9MP as the aspect ratio is 16:9 which is better than the 4:3 aspect ratio of the full 12. The lens on my N8 is a Carl Zeiss which makes a difference. I haven't really had much of a play with the settings. I just point and shoot and most of the time the photos come out fine.

Yeah, I get that, but HTC dropped the pixel count in their newest 1 handset from the 8mp of my outgoing 1X to 4mp, claiming that as each pixel is bigger, then it can react better in dark conditions which practical experience is showing to be utter bollocks since the older phone, although no photo monster, always has something that I can work with in its memory after taking a picture where the newer gadget is really good at taking blank images and yes, I did make sure that I was using the right lens, the front one's even worse.
Not to worry though, I'll eBay the newer device and carry on using the other one which works better in every way.

I noticed the Astra "ute" too. Neat job but not really my bag, nice workmanship all the same. :)

It could be worse, you could have the one x+ which I am stuck with. Phone 5 in 11 months now.
flickery screens, stuck in airplane mode, Bluetooth suddenly not working any more, g sensor randomly rotating the screen when it is sitting on a desk. I always have HTC phones but they really dropped the ball on the one series.
After my good DSLR was pinched a couple of years ago I bought a Fuji S1800. It has a reasonable lens, reasonable zoon, picture quality is very good for a "compact" camera especially as it only cost £70 which is a fraction of what I have paid for a lens before.
One day I will buy a new DSLR but until then this is doing the job amazingly.
