I found my 206 (and my daughter's slightly older 206CC) notoriously hard to get a proper code reading. Using "off-the-shelf" diagnostic readers often presented codes that looked feasible but were in fact totally wrong. I don't believe that PSA complied properly with the EU rules and the EOBD standards and the use of an ECU and BSI, combined with the later Plex wiring system, meant that you need a specific code reader. I used the PeugeotPlanet software on a Win95 laptop and a PSA specific Sealey diagnostic unit .. sometimes even they disagreed! :shock:

(Being a French company, I bet PSA would expect the EU to go easy on them and ignore their transgressions .. and the French MEPs and PM would fight their corner with the usual Gallic shrug of the shoulders :roll: ).

On my Alfa 156 I once had isses with the lambda which every now and then would turn on the EML and throw up lambda related codes. That had been fitted by my Alfa specialist when I had a fueling problem. I checked the part number and it matched my car but when I checked the actual specs I noticed the NTK version that had been fitted differed to the Bosch lambda sensor in the ohm ratings. I swapped out the lambda for a Bosch Universal LS615 unit (same body, you carefully cut and re-used the original wiring and plug - no soldering either) and the EML stayed off, and no more codes. And even better, the MPG figures improved ...

We have a mechanic friend who has plugged in his works machine.. this gave us more information but nothing definitive
Po170 fault dosage carburant
Po130 fault oxygen sensor circuit
Po131 low tension oxygen sensor...
He seems to think the first fault in the list may create all the other faults..I'd like your opinion..

Update on the 206, I put another can of cleaning product in the tank and ordered the new oxygen sensors so headlight bulb went pop in protest... what an absolute pain in the arse to fix!! I had to remove all the fixings just to get at the connector.. the light won't come out as with a clio so a 5 minute job takes 2 hours.. running round in the car with the engine light glowing for the past 2 months I'd collected the sensors €136 thank you very much I'd planned to fit them yesterday but got tied up with a mates suzuki samurai exhaust joint.. went out shopping for the kids in 206 and the engine light has gone off.. I'm happy but now I'm the proud owner of 2 brand new sensors that will sit in the shed until something else goes wrong...
