france, again..

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

  haha, yeh did mine in The Prefecture at Vannes. Very easy.
Helped a mate get his Jag XF re-registered. Didn't get a C of C as Sec K was 'complete'.
The old boy in the Pref' just said "NON certificate de comformity obligatoire' .
I pointed out Sec K on his V5 and said that proves conformity......
Toys out time..... He threw all the papers at me stormed off shouting I need to see his supervisor......
The supervisor stood his ground and backed up his colleague...... .
So we went back another day, got a young chap. He too told us we need the C of C . I asked if he would try inputting the info due to Sec K being 'complete'.
He said he'd give it a go.
Guess what it was accepted and we got the CG no problems. And 180€ saved

A few years back, my missus and I planned a tour along The Cote D'Azure in the MG. The insurance was posing problems in the UK because we had planned to hire a pick up to put the MG on, and hitch a caravan onto the back. The classic car and the caravan had separate insurances, the hired pick up was also insured separately. They were all OK as far as I could make out, but the hired vehicle's insurer said that there was some problem with the French. So I wrote to the French Embassy, in French, had my letter proof read to make sure I had made a faux pas, and included an English version.
They wrote back thanking me for me letter and suggested that I get in touch with................... Not one Department but a whole A4 page of contacts, seriously, and this was pre-referendum so there was no axe to grind. We gave up and went to the US instead. Hired a car and did about three to four hundred miles of the famous Route 66.

Cette caravane de 1953 est restée abandonnée plus de 60 ans.
