top gear

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Sadly it's only a wind-up, I might even have looked in for a few minutes if the chain smoking, beer swilling, loudmouth Nigel brought his take, especially on cars built in the EU. What you have is a cricketer turned boxer, a racing driver and an Irish brewer, (I think) well his name sounds like Guinness.

Contents of the new series are, as yet, unknown but are sure to see the return of the ever-popular ‘if you don’t like it then why are you watching it?’

Yes, 'tis indeed a funny thing that some opinions come from those who refuse to watch a particular show (phenomenon not limited to TG) "because it's rubbish."
How on earth do folk with such amazing telepathic ability end up spending their sad lives on web fora when their talent could surely be put to better use forecasting next week's lottery numbers?
Anyway, Grand Tour is better, it just is. And yes, I watch all three, Fifth Gear being the best option for anyone wanting to pish their wages up the wall on a new car's massive depreciation but even they have fun, a word that's missing from dictionaries owned by these telepathic critics.

They know who they are! ;)

I've never heard of Grand Tour, agree about 5th gear, and never watched Top Gear, although I did try, but after ten minutes of Clarkson I found that sticking pins in my eyeballs more entertaining. And just when it couldn't get any worse along came the Ginger Ninja.
But I do agree with John about the viewers who watch a show just to hate it and then resort to social media to post some diatribe, claiming that they never watch it. What are they then? Clairvoyant?

Rich, tell us more about this flipping bangers thing please. The name alone has me wanting to watch it but if you could give us a brief description of the show, being careful not to give any real details away, then maybe we could form an opinion and post about it without having to sit through it and watch for ourselves!
