The rear window louvres appear to be some type of cheap copy of the Autoplas ones, as seen on many a cool 1970s Capri or whatever! I'm actually excited.

what do you chaps think? ;)
I suppose why not, that first gen Pony looks quite similar to the Austin Princess and some people like them nowadays as well... ;)

Maybe a Pony would break down less frequently than the BL equivalent?? :scared:

I'm at my happiest when my car is one that nobody else actually likes, so all of this fondness for the forgotten Hyundai makes me stop liking it as much. ;)
I see some resemblance to the Princess around the rump, but I reckon that there is a BL product out there which far more closely resembles the Pony:

That Leyland Marina - from Australia - looks even more like some sort of Asian car of the period than our UK Morris badged one did, possibly because of its Datsun lookalike frontal aspect, I hadn't seen one of these until just now, when that one appeared on the first few rows of images found in a web search for Marina Coupés.
GHT will undoubtedly be overjoyed to know of the car's existence!

ISTR that marinas in Australia had the option of being fitted with the E-Series OHC six pot. I bet they handled well.......

You're right John, its of course the Morris Marina I was thinking of when seeing the resemblance with the Pony!
