I'm actually waiting for the new Alfa Giulia, being released in UK later this year, but the 156 is definitely struggling and there is a limit to how much even I am prepared to throw at a 17 year old Alfa ...
I went ....
... oh that was a mistake! Took SHMBO in the hope she would make me see sense and she liked it .. a lot!
I took an auto BRZ out on Saturday (registered Dec 2014, not taxed since Dec 2015 and only 3070 miles on clock!! Uh???) and tried a manual yesterday (GT86 with 81K).
The manual was manic and I could see 12 points flashing before my eyes as I flew up the A4 near Sonning! Even with Vehicle Stability Control on, the rear end would squirm under full throttle!! The auto was a bit more refined and probably less likely to kill me but very responsive with flappy paddles in "sport" mode..
So stupidly I have asked ... "When could you get me a new one in Blue?"
PS Update on 156: failed MOT a week or so ago: rust in front floor pans, and near the brake pipes on front inner wings, one worn upper suspension arm ball-joint and a seized rear handbrake on one caliper .. 210,037 miles ... I still need to go back and discuss the welding but it's just too damn hot! I'm thinking a 156 with an MOT will be easier to shift than a dead one!
