IP address problem. Message to Forum Administrator

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

IP address problem. Message to Forum Administrator

#1 Post by drosser » Wed Oct 14, 2015 10:53 pm

I decided to join this forum but when I followed the site link the site opened with a message that I was permanently barred from the site as there was a problem with my IP address. I am a member of quite a few technical and car based forums and, as far as I know, have never abused my status on any of them. I assumed that I may have joined this forum previously and that there may have been a misunderstanding. I have just joined with no problem so I assume that there is no problem. I had hoped that I would be able to contact the forum administrator direct but could not find a way (I am definitely not a computer person). Please check if I have accidentally 'blotted my copybook' in the past or if there is a technical problem with my IP address (could it have been hijacked??).

Hi & welcome to the forum.

Apologies for the error you are getting, we know about this, see here:

http://practicallyclassics.phpbbhosts.c ... 5&start=30

Apologies for the many posts that are just banter, but you'll see the story in there somewhere.

We should be in a position to resolve this shortly.

I've also moved this post to "Off Topic" as it's the right place for this to be.

Cheers!

This is only the second time in this last seven or so days I have managed to log on, every other time I've been banned.

The forum has been down for maintenance today, so said the message that appeared in place of the "Active Threads" page a few moments ago, so fingers crossed that Terry's sorted this.

Don't go there. I am having a NIGHTMARE getting anything from the current hosts to get us moved to a more stable platform.
Apologies for the ongoing issues. It hasn't been forgotten it's just that a few hours work is being held up by an uncooperative provider.
