Not bad, and I believe that this record stood 'til the 1990s, when a builder from Bedlington - setting away late to quote for a loft extension - beat Moss' average speed in a Bedford Astramax van on the A189 Spine Road between Bebside roundabout and Annitsford, Northumberland. The achievement was all the more remarkable as the builder had left his ladder at home so couldn't count on the aerodynamic benefit of having said ladder on the van's roof.

as a van driver, i agree.. my brother ran an 1.3 astra & was impossible to catch when he bought a 1.6 escort diesel van.. only thing that stopped him was a lorry.. resulting in a few days rest in hospital & a broken leg, hand etc
