Interesting vehicle and that description has to be the best I've seen since 2004, when eBay still allowed sellers to add their questions from and answers to potential buyers on the listing.

My favourite bit, taken completely out of context and therefore funny (to my dodgy waterworks-related (ab)sense of humour) is this:

The vehicle is probably not the wisest way to spend money, but I'd enjoy meeting the author of that listing! In fact, it's a damned shame that contact is against the rules because I'd shake him firmly by the hand to congratulate him on that prize worthy piece.

The trouble with amusing eBay descriptions is that none of the current crop, funny though they can be, comes close to the descriptions offered in the earlier days of eBay by that piano specialist seller who occasionally had an interesting car on offer. I can't remember their user name, but listings included the "Night porter's Fiat X1/9", whose description was the finest example of surreal gobbledegook ever to grace eBay's pages.

Bedford J series. I love the look of these and always have found them aesthetically pleasing. Sadly, I've missed out on the opportunity to drive and live with one for long enough to form a meaningful opinion of their dynamic qualities. But, even if they are rich in awfulness, I'd be proud to have one on my drive, were that space not already full with Toyotas. That said, I've always been in favour of an underdog and in reality, could a J really be that much worse to pilot than a badly maintained A series Ford?

That 'J' Series was always reminiscent, to me, of the 1950's American pick up truck. Maybe it's the General Motors DNA but it does have that Chevy look to it.

You like old trucks? I saw a 1970 Atkinson articulated unit at Warwick services on the M40 on Friday evening. Restored to perfection, just standing in the HGV park, all on it's own.

Indeed I do but, that said, I like anything better if it's somewhere between ancient and not new.

Rich, at last I understand why this thread is in the O/T section of the boards! Either of these historic military pieces would be the ideal headwear to consider for the first tentative visit to a watering hole - if it becomes safe to lift the restrictions to that extent during what's left of my life. Tip up in one of these and a path to the bar would suddenly appear, as if by magic. Especially if you lowered your head and aimed the dangerous bit at the person in front.

Undoubtedly, but buy one, working on its engine should be easy enough for a chap who can fit an alternator to an MR2 and live to tell the tale!

Normally I wouldn't consider the rx8 but my eldest spotted one the other day and wants one.. im still thinking about an slk (even watching wd renovation) the mechanic chap with the hair is great.. even his mate don't mess about and is far less less annoying than sos tim.. i could get to like that programme ..
