Eight thousand seven hundred miles, in just under forty years, that's all of two hundred and twenty three miles a year, and the advert says that they have had it from new. Probably didn't dare go too far for fear of not getting back. There was one small feature that caught my eye and made me smile:

"The seller won't accept returns for this item."

Why am I not surprised? I can think of many ways to blow the asking price, buying one of B/L's finest is not one of them.

I guess that there are certain types that go ga-ga over the Princess/Ambassador, er, car, if you can call it that. After all, you see a field full of those types, cameras at the ready, when the steam engine Flying Scotsman hauls an excursion special.

Why does the back of the Princess look like they ran out of money and just created a slab finish? My sister had the predecessor to that, er, car. Her's was known as the Landcrab, I wouldn't get in it, you just didn't know if you would reach your destination. Apologies for the dreadful spelling and grammar, but the sentiment is accurate.

Its got a broken engine... is it an easy fix? Im waiting for the seller to respond.. a mx5 owner said just run away...

I'd be equally concerned about the vandalised roof, they're not exactly cheap and the engine is somewhat less simple than the ones found in earlier MX5s so goodness knows what damage may have been done. They are, unusually for a Japanese petrol engine, not blessed with a safe head so good luck with valves, pistons and associated parts such as cracked camshafts.
On the other hand, is the rust free shell alone worth the asking price? There's the thing; if this were one of the earliest cars, then a complete shell into which some good oily bits could be transplanted would be worth that all day long, but how often do these later MX5s show signs of rot bad enough to render the car scrap?

So if you can find a good engine from a donor car that's been killed by collision damage, a roof from a specialist and have the time to spare, then maybe it's worth a shot. I'd keep searching but then faint heart never won fair maid & all that!

Possibly a wise course of action, but maybe that person didn't have your eternal optimism or the ability to fix it?
