Linda Boreman, better known as Linda Lovelace, achieved sexual notoriety thanks to a film, shot in a Florida hotel room, that would overshadow the rest of her unhappy life. In 1972, she starred in Deep Throat, a phenomenally successful hardcore sex film that made her the world’s first porn superstar. If you want to know more about this tragic woman Google her name, only if you do, make sure that nobody is looking over your shoulder.
Back to the TF. The reason that I commented about the 'K' series engine was because in the MG, it's mounted mid engine style. The car is notorious for doing a Linda Lovelace to your head gasket and if you haven't got the nous, the spanners and the time, you are looking at £750 for a replacement head gasket. there is an interesting thread on the
MG TF forum. There is also a plus side in that most people know about the head gasket and Linda Lovelace, as well as the cost of the repairs, this leads to very cheap prices for the car. So if you think that you can do a replacement head gasket, then go for it. !800 yoyos is a bit dear Rich, about a grand is more realistic.
Given the saving that you could make, you could easily customise your TF.
RPS have come up with some GRP panels that give the car an updated look. Very competitively priced, for example:
Front bumper/splitter - £185, Rear bumper - £190, Bonnet (without internal mouldings) - £120, Bonnet (with internal mouldings) - £175, Boot lid (without internal mouldings) - £125, Boot lid (with internal mouldings) - £184, Rear air scoops - £75 (pair), Front vents - £75 (pair) Click on the links and see for yourself, there's also a photo of a car with the panels attached and paint blended, not my cup of tea, but you will probably love it. Goodness know where you are going to put three kids, though.
