breakdown truck

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Had that been a 997cc Cooper or a 1071 Cooper S, then maybe, just maybe, it would have been worth that much. But a later, "wet" (Hydrolastic rather than dry rubber) 1275 S? For that, I'd want the thing to be drivable. Someone must have been desperate for a log book donor for a Heritage shell rebuild. Possibly. ;)

A Cummins engine, a Berliet cab, Eaton transmission and built at Foden, when a motoring journalist, who thought that he was being clever, asked Sir Terence Beckett, "Apart from the blue oval on the grille, what exactly does Ford make?"
Without drawing breath Beckett replied: "The Profit."

Overpriced mini ?

Yes, if all that's required is a mini. However, as it's an incredibly nicely presented S - albeit not the earlier 1071 or the super rare 970 - I suspect that the car will come close to that asking price and someone will drive it home with that grin on their face, the grin that even putting a MK1 Escort through its paces on gravel cannot quite match.

So what to buy if a mini, year and exact model not being considerations, is all it has to be? For my mini money - assuming that my now much skinnier frame would allow me to drive one given suitable means of reaching that close to the ground - it has to be this: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1322086      And yes, the red interior may be a little too bright with the blue paint, IMHO, but is a 1275 S really worth so much more? I'm not seeing it somehow.
8-)
