Remember Stephen King's Christine?
Re: Remember Stephen King's Christine?
Wikipedia says:
Although the car in the film is identified as a 1958 Plymouth Fury, two other Plymouth models, the Belvedere and the Savoy, were also used to portray the malevolent automobile onscreen (Total production for the 1958 Plymouth Fury was only 3,018). Several Fury models were destroyed during filming, but most of the cars were Savoy and Belvedere models dressed to look like the Fury.[2]
According to one of the MANY christine fan sites there were 12 cars used:

There are lots of pics of the scrap. if you have "car sympathy" probably best not to look.

Re: Remember Stephen King's Christine?
I think that, in the spirit of the current remake frenzy in the cinema industry, a "Christine" for the 21st Century should be made and, ideally, should be shot in and around a typically British town or city such as Kilmarnock or, if that's too exotic, perhaps Exeter.
I'd like the star to be an orange Marina Coupé, what car would others like to see taking the lead rôle in such a film?

No, it needs to be shot in grim setting, you haven't seen Easington Colliery after 'billy elliot' was filmed there! so Ex-pit village in the North of England!JPB wrote:I think that, in the spirit of the current remake frenzy in the cinema industry, a "Christine" for the 21st Century should be made and, ideally, should be shot in and around a typically British town or city such as Kilmarnock or, if that's too exotic, perhaps Exeter.

A marina is not a good one not menacing enough!
It would have to be a car that was produced originality with either a v6 or v8
a mk1 capri or something similar

I read that book on a plane to the USA as a teenager. I was never quite sure whether I could not sleep due to jet lag or being scared by the book.
I haven't seen the movie in years.

Re: Remember Stephen King's Christine?
When I saw "Christine" at the Cinema I owned a DS 23 Safarai. The car park for the cinema was one of the old type with a spiral ramp linking the floors. We came out of the cinema at the end of the film late at night to find just two cars on the floor I was parked on - mine and a mini a bit further down. We all piled into the DS and sat chatting about the film. As we did a group of young ladies emerged from the staircase and started walking nervously towards the mini. So I started the DS and immediately hit main beam. The sound of the car starting and then the sight of the headlamps coming on - then rising up in the air and turning to follow them generated some of the best screams I have ever heard. If there were no puddles on the floor it must have been damned close!!
I was a wicked so and so when I was a (lot) younger!!.......
