Re: sterling moss
There was an excellent interview with him on the Today programme this morning. (Probably available on iPlayer).
He reckons he'll still be doing rallies and runs, just nothing competitive.

.....Like using broken lifts. Nice bloke, Sir Stirling. Met him at the NEC show in '03 where Dad and he chatted for what seemed like hours about the old days at Charterhall and Knockhill; venues that both frequented back in their era.Willy Eckerslyke wrote:.....just nothing competitive.
Yes, just like you did in your post title, so perpetuating the error.Luxobarge wrote:Been around that long, and still people spell his name wrong.....rich. wrote:81 yrs old

Ooooh, writhing with delight!!rich. wrote:happy now chaps?
Back to the (very sensible) point of the thread, yes, he's "national treasure" material as far as I'm concerned, if I'm doing half that well at his age I'll be happy!

Re: stirling moss
I just got back from Le Mans and thought you might like a picture of Sir Stirling driving his last competitive lap, in his Porsche RS61.
It was a great Le Mans 24h race, full of excitement, and we also very much enjoyed the Legends race that took place before it. I've got some superb Jaguar D-Type pics and of course the other cars, too.

Notice he's driving without protective overalls and with an old fashioned helmet. He had to get special permission from the FIA to do this, but he thinks classic racing wouldn't look right with the modern safety gear. Inspirational man!
