i seem to remember a few years ago one of the lads took a sd1 rover to poland for a complete rebuild. any idea how it turned out?

You mean Keith Adams' car? He's currently loaned it out... You can check the story over on AROnline though, there's quite a few articles & he's been very happy with it AFAIK.
