My younger brother's chemistry teacher blew the sides out of a fume cabinet once!

At my old school, we were learning about convection currents (ink, bunsen burner and a big glass jar full of water), which is about the safest experiment there is involving a busen. Seconds into it the whole thing imploded and poured warmish water and ink all over my friend and the science teacher!
Another time with this science teacher he confused copper and magnesium, and filled a test tub with wet cotton wool and magnesium - we warned him to move his and, and just in time, as a huge tongue of sparks flew out and set fire to a book!
At my current school, our chemistry teacher started our first lesson in year nine by starting a fire and then panicking about it to show you what not to do. It set off the fire alarms :P

Having worked as a Science Technician in a school (before changing schools and "trades"), I can think of a few interesting lessons! One teacher had the great idea of pouring ether over his bench and setting fire to it! He was also keen on EHT stuff - without insulated wires in some cases!

However, I do get bored with the Braniac "lets blow a caravan up" - a Hammond carry-over from Top Gear I suspect!

My (now deceased) physics teacher from school days used to enjoy playing with EHT as well, and he taught us that we should always sit on one hand when working with EHT supplies.

Pity the daft old sod didn't take his own advice on that one. :(

from what i can remember of my science lessons my teacher was a hatefull old man with no patience & worse than useless at his job, shame as i was keen on the subject at the beginning.

I have my physics teacher (Mr Allen) to thank for my career path ,as he was the first to get me interested in electricity.

B'stard,25 years later I'm sitting at home messing about on forums as I have no work :roll:
