Kia Pride (I think)
Kia Pride (I think)
Hi and my apologies if this is posted in the wrong place....
I have recently, due to a bereavement, come into the possession of a 1991 (J prefix) Kia Pride. It has been kept in excellent original condition, regularly mot’d and still starts and runs nicely. I have nowhere to keep it and insufficient knowledge of how to help it remain in mint condition.
Can anyone advise whether it would be worth anything or should I look to either scrap it or donate it to a retro film company?
I need to get it shifted as the property has now been sold.
Many thanks....

A few photos and a description of rust etc with a location might help. Good luck
Re: Kia Pride (I think)
Hmm, interesting! Is this the first generation one that came with white wall tyres? Either way they're not exactly thick on the ground just now.
As for a value, the good folk at Autoshite, which is HERE, in case you're not on there already, may have a better idea of value, but a Kia Pride, especially if it has the whitewalls and the full length sliding roof, must be worth saving. If they made one with a two pedal transmission and this is such a thing, then I know of a local collector of automotive oddities who would buy it for sure, subject to their being vaccinated and to travel restrictions being relaxed.
Good luck!

Re: Kia Pride (I think)
I’ll try and get some pics together when I next head over to the property.
I don’t think it is a particularly desired classic but it is a very clean original condition example. The car is located in a garage not too far from Cambridge.

Re: Kia Pride (I think)
I’ve managed to get a couple of pics in the hope that someone can advise a suitable asking price and possible places to advertise it please?
Re: Kia Pride (I think)
That looks in lovely condition!
Re: Kia Pride (I think)
You can see my dilemma....
It seems too good to scrap but I have no idea how to find it’s new cherished owner or what value to put on it....

Re: Kia Pride (I think)
Don't you want to keep it? Is it an automatic? Or try ebay but you won't get much
Re: Kia Pride (I think)
Autoshite members will lap this up, shame it has a clutch pedal, if it were the rare CVT model (I checked on the often accurate howmanyleft and no CVT models appear in the list of survivors. ) I'd happily have taken that on as I've yet to run out of neighbours with storage space in exchange for gadget repairs! The absence of whitewalls and the other usp of the model; the roof rails, won't be an issue.
I've never driven one, but it's like any other Mazda 121 - bar the badging - and they were a decent car as well as a great alternative to a K10 or Daihatsu Charade.
Avoid eBay unless you're fond of being abused by imbeciles and people who want a cheap old nail to run into the ground, this will have the strongest chance of being snapped up if posted on Autoshite, where anything that otherwise falls through the net is appreciated by like minded bangernomicists or anyone with an urge to own something less commonly seen. Don't let the ironic board name dissuade you, they're a friendly bunch and have a deserved reputation for saving vehicular oddities.
Mazda still lists all of the mechanical and many of the body parts for the 121 of this era, so ongoing maintenance will be stress free, especially given the 121's reputation for dependability.
The value of this is best established by inviting offers and seeing what the market makes of it.
