Multiple Classic car insurance

#1 Post by sierra3dr » Sun Aug 16, 2020 7:52 am

Hello all. As I have had my MK5 for years now,and have insured it. In December 2019 I bought a Capri and insured it with the same company. As we know the premium is for a year,so the Capri will end in December 2020. Thinking my Cortina insurance renewal date is on the same date as the MOT,or thereabouts. I've come to realise it ended in June this year. At the same time, the Capri premium has stopped. Your opinions most appreciated

My classics are insured with Peter James. When I added the second car, I paid a pro rata premium so both fell due on the same date. It's only £161 pa for the pair so that's no big deal. Don't understand what you mean by "The premium for the Capri has stopped"

Are they still taking payments out of your account?

Probably not the best wording....the policy of the Capri has stopped at the same time as the Cortina, even though the Capri policy ends in December

I paid upfront on both occasions £135 for the Cortina and £75 for the Capri

You may find that the £75 for the Capri was a pro rata payment to bring it into line with the Cortina renewal date, so when you renew it will be for one year for both.

Phone them up and get them to explain it?
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

I have today, and as suffolkpete kindly mentionen, thankyou Pete,it is a pro rata payment. So,I now know what this means. It means the Capri policy was from December 2019 up to June 2020,when the Cortina insurance is up for renewal. It was just me.misleading myself :D
Receiving a quote from Peter James for both cars, they said that the Cortina is not deemed as a Classic car
