2 or 4 Post Ramp?
2 or 4 Post Ramp?
Given the choice between a 2 or 4 post ramp which do you think is best suited to classic car restoration? What can one do that the other can't?

Depends on the car. A separate-chassis Triumph may cause different problems than a monocoque, for example - you lift by the sills and the chassis stays on the ground

have you thought about a pit?
Re: 2 or 4 Post Ramp?
I'd go two post, as you can take all the wheels off and work on brakes etc at a comfortable height. You can also lkift bodies off chassis/subframes etc.
Four posts lift the car on the wheels and are not as useful.

But you can lift a car on the wheelfree beams on a 4-post, meaning that they're every bit as versatile as the two post and then some.

2 post any day. For posts are only good for storage or transmission / exhaust work. If you want to do any kind of suspension work, then a 2 post is a natural choice. I understand that you can buy jacks to raise the wheels, but you're not going to be able to swing a hammer properly with the ramp in the way.

Also what Alabassi said.
2 post every day for me.
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Re: 2 or 4 Post Ramp?
I'm guessing that those who vote for a 2 post lift haven't used a 4 post one or that, if you did, the wheelfrees were missing or not working properly.
Granted the 2 post lift is less bulky and an ideal routine service tool, but it's so limited by comparison as to make it far less suitable for restoration work and isn't that what lots of us are about?
