how about this?

Thanks Rich. Yeah, a VDP version would be a major bonus, I love the plush interior and other bits. However, this one is probably not for them, as it has no MoT and has various bits missing and heater problems, also it's an automatic which they don't really want. Thanks for the link though, at least it will put the idea of a VDP in their minds, if they can find a good one!

Cheers :D

Brill! Thanks a lot GHT - it's much more local too. Which is just as well as there's not much information given on the advert, might well be worth looking at I think.

Keep 'em coming!

Cheers :D

Channel your inner Basil Fawlty with this rare estate: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C877661

These can be used for camping as the interior can be made into a Maxi-style bed. Not perfect, but in Berkshire so maybe worth a look? Comes with a 1300 twin carb engine fitted, so should be a properly lively wee thing, needs some work but for an estate, super cheap. :D

Then there's this, not a genuine GT but has the right go-faster bits and is said to be solid where it matters: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C884723

Only snag is that it's in Fife but if someone weren't bothered about distances when buying old cars, it could be a decent purchase. I'd be removing the GT badges though.
8-)

And finally for now, dig out the green wellies and head for the Midlands, this Austin's looking pretty good in Shropshire: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C884203

In this week's Classic Car Buyer, the same car has been reduced to £2,800. Keen to sell, might take two and a half, time to test the water?

Thanks GHT.

My friends who want to buy an ADO16 are out of the country at the moment, so this has gone on hold slightly - they'll be back in a week or so and have said they intend to pick up on one or two of these opportunities. I'll post back on any progress, in the meant time if anyone sees any more, just post 'em up here!

Cheers all. :D

Thanks Rich.

However, they're definitely looking for an ADO16 car, so the Allegro and A35 are not contenders here. The middle one you posted I really like, I think they should go and see that - it's the same car as the bottom link in John's post above though, so already aware of it. Good to know it's on e-bay too though, will keep an eye on the price.

My friends are back in the country next week, so hopefully they'll be in a position to go and see one or two of these.

Cheers! :D

Still within that three and a half grand budget, here's a top of the range ADO16, The Vanden Plas 1300. Only problem is, I can't find the seller's location. It's probably staring me in the face.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vanden-Plas-1 ... 3641.l6368

But if you can afford to push the boat out by another £750, (£4250) this Wolseley 1300 version has had just two owners, the first had the car for 42 years. It's got all invoices and documentation from new in a file. Strange thing though, I checked location, just got a flag on a blank map. It also said it was LHD, yet the photo clearly shows it to the contrary.

It's curious how some badges on the car make it more desirable than others. The Riley Kestrel regularly sells in excess of five grand, this one at three seven fifty looks the part. But is it a quick sale or a bag of problems?

This Austin version might be worth a look, less than three grand (£2750) and less than 30K miles, with MOT certificates to prove it.

Remember that earlier post for the MG1100? Well the price has been reduced.

And just to complete the family, this MK2 Morris in beige  comes in right on budget at three and a half grand. Low mileage too, but a bit of a treck up to Northampton. Guilty confession, I lived in the county back in the eighties, the missus and I still make the journey as often as possible to see The Saints play Rugby. Here's that Morris.
