In case you haven't seen the news...

#1 Post by UKJeeper » Wed Mar 22, 2017 10:15 am

After 13 seasons, longtime co-host and lead mechanic Edd China has decided to leave the series to pursue other projects.WHEELER DEALERS will continue for a season 14 later this year with current co-host Mike Brewer who will now be joined by Anstead. Ant Anstead is the former host of the Channel 4 series “For The Love Of Cars” and previously hosted “Building Cars Live” for BBC2.

The king is dead, long live the king.
Edd sometimes demonstrated good workshop practice which occasionally suggested a real talent for his craft, such as his clearly skilled patching of the C post on the Cadillac. Sadly, other episodes of the shows in which he and Mike Brewer cooperated showed some frankly atrocious bodges, such as the welded repair to the pannier/floor seam on the Moke, the avoidance of the structural issues on the MK1 Fiesta which failed its first post-"rebuild" MOT on excess corrosion, strangely under section 6, which should only apply to cars with a chassis, and not forgetting the application of Cataloy to the front edge of the Mercedes SL's front wing tip when there was clearly just as much clag in the eyebrow beneath there that should have been cut away too.
But I doubt whether ex-polis Ant was chosen for his mechanical and bodyworking skills so much as for his shorter stature.

Now that would be worth looking at! Sadly, they'd do far too good a job between them to appeal to a mass market that thinks of - soap character - Kevin Webster as the best motor engineer in the country.

For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction.
Imagine the over irritating Tim Wotsit on Car SOS teamed with Beer Belly on Wheeler Dealers?
Meanwhile, in the news, in case you missed it. Colin Dexter, the creator of Morse, has passed away. You might think so what? But what Colin did for classic cars is legendary.

Yes it is, he must have been indirectly responsible for at least half a dozen shagged out 240s - that would otherwise have been baled - being fitted with MK2 bumpers, painted in various shades of maroon (with added vinyl roof) and then sold on as "the car from Morse" which of course they all probably were, and OFAH used more than one Regal Supervan too. Just don't get me started on Bergerac's Triumph!

as original as Triggers Broom?

Edd and Fuzz with Wayne as the front man would be the ultimate, in my view.

Edd Fuzz and Arron might be a laugh too.

If Mike was any kind of a TRUE friend to Edd, then he would leave the show with him. But it just shows what his character is really like. Mike doesn't look like he did any kind of real work in his life, just a bull-s*****.

He just wants to stay in the limelight.

They should have stayed away from the American rubbish, stick to British stuff or......even old style tractors

I wonder how this new thing will work........or not.

I imagine Mike Brewer thinks HE IS Wheeler Dealers ..

If they are planning to cut down on the actual mechanical side of the programme, pretty it won't last long .. proper petrol heads will switch off. Will be interesting to listen to some of the questions being asked at the Restoration Show when the "MB clown" is on stage ..
