How about a former RAC van, then you could cover your own breakdowns!
What would you buy & why?

Rich, my wallet is still undergoing surgery following the impulse purchase of the Pajero. cars in that state of preservation don't come cheap and I may have spent a few quid over the odds to make sure it would be mine. (Come on people, we've all done it and in this case, I don't even feel guilty or remorseful, so great is the joy involved with finding the thing..)
However, that Honda is extremely tempting and at the current asking price, there's room for a spot of profit.
That last MX5 looks lovely on its BBS ( ) wheels and the interior shot shows a pleasant enough place to sit, but is the car currently in that condition?
Am I right in thinking that it's suspiciously cheap? Why would the seller not get back to you? I'd be asking for some high quality images to be taken today, images that show the car in its true state. These two photos on the listing don't appear to illustrate a car that needs to be restored, so I'm toiling to understand what's going on and the whole thing stinks of fish in my opinion.
A CA on your lottery winnings shopping list eh? You and me both. I'd love a really early split screen one, modified in a subtle way with either clutch and selector servos (like the ones found on a Smart) to do the gear changing stuff, or with a small, modern auto fitted via an adaptor plate and operated from something that resembles a manual gear lever so maintains an original appearance. Many of Toyota's autos have a column shift that could, I'm sure, be adapted for the CA. The 3 speed device in the Mitsubishi, an Aisin (Toyota..) product that's typical of one of their automatics (whines like a spoilt child in spite of its not actually being broken ) is tiny, far smaller than the Ford or Borg Warner equivalents, and would fit beautifully in the CA's available space.
Please, please stop putting ideas into my head!
But if I were to buy that Honda the world wouldn't necessarily come to an instant end..

Do you two really like the CA? I used to have a lift to work in one back in 1970, through to 1974. It had two side facing rows of crew seats, I paid the driver five bob a week for the lift. That's twenty five pence, but bare in mind that petrol cost about twenty five pence a gallon back then. That's a gallon, about four and a half litres, for twenty five pence. Eight of us used to go to and from work in that old banger. The driver's door catch that held it in the open position didn't always work so if the door was open and we had to pull up sharply the door would slam shut with a bang, making us all leap.
There's one up for auction in July: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C994409

Hmm, tell you what, that's a pretty straight van and the guy says they've addressed the minor MOT advisories, and no fails or worse corrosion at all, which inspires confidence. Perkins Prima seems like a decent choice of engine, that one's not a turbo so should be good for many more years and miles to come. In fact, there are more reasons (IMHO) to like the van than not to like it but when I have a vehicle that can double up as a bed and has a toilet, fresh water tank and a tiny camping stove in its commodious luggage compartment, as well as black glass from the b posts back, then another vehicle with living accommodation, albeit an older, more interesting one, isn't needed. I'm watching it though , you never know what may happen! Dorset is a hell of a distance away, and while I'll happily buy on the basis of photos from a Japanese auction or import specialist, a UK vehicle of the dear old Sherpa's age would have to be checked out in the flesh.

Good old mini eh, just when you think everything that can be done has been done..
And I wouldn't want a car with "Your Name Here" written along its right starboard flank, that's a bit crazy IMHO.

thought you would like that.. meanwhile, in my mission to find an mx5 im in contact with a mr richard glanville who seems to be an absolute tool he's advertising his car with little description & no photos.. ive asked for some he's refused & he's sent me several messages asking if i'm still interested.. i replied this morning saying that im not about to do a 300 mile round trip without seeing some pics.. & that he wanted too much money... he got stroppy funny thing is when he sends a mail its a short sentance & then he sends another & another.. 10 this morning.. needless to say he will be keeping his car..

That's a Jersey number plate. Doing 46000 miles on an island that measures about 5 x 9 miles must take some doing.
