Hmm, I was just looking at something similar on eBay and that Triumph was linked from that listing, here's what I'd been investigating: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5kg-sack-of- ... SwcLxYIgMv

   I actually like that a lot! It looks like a really decent shell, so the rust-look special effect paint could be covered with some nice orange Dulux. Ditch the flathead as it's hardly a concours d'etat car in any case, I can visualise something of the period in that engine bay, 1500cc Ford V4 from a Saab 96 perhaps, along with a MK1/MK2 Escort autobox? Sure & it is somewhat small in the legroom department, does anyone have a really sharp bone saw please?

But mostly, I want to know who Dr Ted is and where I can buy some of his ointment.

sounds like a plan john!! you don't really need a bone saw, a 125 grinder with a 1 mm blade cuts through skin quite easily i found out yesterday. although if you need more legroom had you ever thought of moving the seat?
let me know who dr ted is...

Oops! Sorry, I messed up editing a post and ended up making this one instead of the one below. I blame the rarified atmosphere at this altitude. Terry, if you haven't, as some rumours are stating, been eaten by the secret monster that stays in your Golf's boot, perhaps you could make this post vanish? Please nicely.

Moving the seat doesn't help when getting down into [the seat] without bending beyond a moderate lean, which would potentially break my chassis at the centre crossmember as I don't flex sufficiently at the hip joints (you know, the types of art deco tea dance venues that our GHT frequents, wearing his cool retro whistle and the shoes with the spats..) which is why the current modern daily is so perfect; its roof and seat are high, but its floor is only six inches from the ground with the suspension at its most kerb-friendly height setting, so I can lift my legs in after simply sliding straight into the bB's big, squashy front sofa, plus there'a a toilet in there, does the Pop have one of those?.. Thought not!

And the mysterious Doctor Ted? I shall see what I can find out from the seller of the car, he only got the question a couple of days ago so there's every possibility that he's either phoning the court to get me locked up for stalking, or having my medal cast for me as I tripe this write.

Many years ago a colleague, who drove for a company whose fleet I was employed to maintain - brought his faithful old truck into the workshop for some essential repairs and a service. After I'd fitted a new foot valve, several miles of wiring and a clutch to the wagon, I noticed that the cab was rotted out very locally just around the step section inside and below the driver's door. I asked whether he'd like me to patch the step while I had the opportunity and he replied that he would, before explaining that the reason for the odd patch of localised rot was a result of his having used the same truck for some eleven years and having a rather antisocial habit of using an empty juice bottle - originally filled with Tizer, if I'm recalling this accurately - as an "in flight" lavatory that could be deployed without a time-consuming break at a place with an actual WC. Once the bottle had become full, he'd simply pour the contents down onto the step, from where it would escape gradually past the door seal, or more suddenly once the rust hole had developed!
He was eventually stopped by the police somewhere in Edinburgh after a passing motorist, in an old MGB roadster, reported him for spraying urine into the open cockpit of his pride & joy. When our driver was breathalysed, he was found to be some four times over the then limit, which was much higher then than the current figure of 22 micrograms of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of breath. Last I heard he was working as a school crossing patrol and abstaining from the sauce. The old truck is now in preservation, its cab presumably less smelly than it would have been then.
Amazingly, he had never actually caused a collision by using one hand to aim his peeing apparatus and the other to hold the bottle. :scared:
