Mirafiori on eBay..

#1 Post by JPB » Tue Oct 25, 2016 8:02 am

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fiat-131-mira ... 2124063709?

"Escort Slayer?" Hmm, who's caring about that? The USP of that admittedly very handsome Fiat is that it should be in the Guinness Book of Records for having the pussiest seats seen in any car. That fabric is far too good for vehicular use!
 ;)

You, Rich, break eBay? The very thought of it!

No mate, you didn't break anything. The listing appears not to be active any longer. It was a black & gold 131 twink, OK, so a non-original livery for a TC (isn't it?), but a very clean looker and with seats that made my favourite Teddy bear look bald, the car floated my boat.
The seller bestowed the title of "Escort Slayer" upon the car but really? That two cars were chalk & cheese, trap springs & a five link, coil setup, British cast iron vs inconsistently porous Italian monkey metal. Any pukka petrolhead is well aware that it's compulsory to drive one of each and then buy both!
I was talking to the S.i.L Beast about this very thing earlier and she pointed out to me that my knees would be somewhere around my ears if I attempted to drive the Fiat, whereas, in an Escort, I'm only ever mildly uncomfortable and then in a sexy way.
Then, I reminded Heather about the time she was found in a car with her knees aft of her ears. That wasn't a Fiat 131.

Years ago, as a manager of a distribution depot I had a similar experience. You know how miserable you feel when you get a touch of constipation? Well that was me, so on the way to work I called into a pharmacy and had a quiet word with the pharmacist. She gave me something with the caution to be within a couple of minutes of the loo. I took the medication, went on my way and forgot all about her sensible advice. Later that morning we had a complaint from a junior school about one of our driver's attitude. Thinking it best to respond, I got in the car and went straight there. On the way, the medication kicked in, by the time I reached the school the buttock clench was of an Olympic standard. Just as I pulled into the playground, I saw a sign: BOYS. Saved. I legged it, well sort of pigeon toed it, I didn't dare let go of that clench. In, pants down, squat and down. And down, and down and down, on a toilet designed for three to five year olds. Knees each side of my ears, I vowed to listen to sound advice next time.

Eeeewww! :barf: :barf:  GHT, please provide the details of your usual brand of mind bleach, I need a good gallon of the stuff to remove the image that your words have left in my head!
:P

Rich, and anyone else who likes a rasping little Italian, I found another mightily impressive Fiat, this time a rare 127 catflap saloon in a lovely shade of duck egg grue**.
Feast your eyes on this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-PROBABLY ... SwbsBXpxLZ

**- "Grue" because my eyes and the DVLA seem to disagree over the colour but who cares, at least it's all one colour and has a floor, both features lacking in the yellow, black and fresh air catflap 127 that I allowed someone to talk me into taking as a p/x on one of my minis. I blame the 1980s..
