Matt George's Ford Mondeo

#1 Post by Toledo Man » Sun Jan 31, 2016 6:56 pm

I've been reading Matt's Staff Car Sagas in the current edition of the mag. His escapades with the Mondeo took me back to when I owned mine.

I know that mine was a MK2 but they're not much different and mine also had the lovely 1.8 Zetec lump. Anyway, I had the airbag light come on one day so I had a look on a Mondeo forum and found out that the fault was with the seatbelt pretensioners. All I had to do was disconnect the multiplug (they're located under the seat), reconnect it and the problem was fixed. I thought he would've tried that first before replacing the clock spring in the steering column.

Matt, if you're reading this, please tell me you tried this easy fix first.

David, apologies for the slight O/T but is that a lifesize Postman Pat clone sitting in the back of the white Datsun in the photo?

That red Mondeo looks very shiny there, was it new at the time?

 By jove, you're right there mate! But if you take the side of the womble's face to be the front, and your eyes trick you into thinking that a chunk of something behind the car is a postman's hat, then it can also be Pat.
Rich, is that a Sunny?

I think you are both wrong, I think it's one of those garfields that has suction cups on it's feet to stick to the glass.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Hmm, every new suggestion regarding the identity of the character in the back of the Datsun causes me to doubt my eyesight! Yes, the bit that Rich thought - and caused me to think - was a Womble's snout could in fact be the soft underbelly area of the orange cat from American fiction.

It is a Garfield the cat - I used to have one in the window of my car  was the girlfriend who later became the wife's idea.

To be honest, I've never really noticed before. It does look like a Garfield. The photo was taken in February 2004 so the car was still relatively newish. When I bought it, it was the newest car I'd ever owned.
