Car SOS.
Car SOS.
As nobody else has mentioned the new series yet. There is a new series.
It started last Thursday, 8PM on National Geographic with the restoration of a Sebring Sprite which had been raced by Stirling Moss and possibly Steve McQueen.
Fuzz, Phil, care to add to the on-screen action?

Yes I saw it good, to see more details of the work for the viewers to see and understand.

It was interesting to see Fuzz removing one layer of paint with thinners and the layer underneath remaining.

Re: Car SOS.
Interesting programme but I found Tim to be particularly irritating in this episode. I appreciate that it was a great honour to meet Sir Stirling Moss and to talk about the history of the car, but he then totally over played that connection when visiting the parts supplier and the old guy in Northern Ireland who had an original engine. Those two scenes spoilt what was for me a good show, but of course it's a TV programme and there has to be some 'entertainment' to keep the masses interested but I'm sure a lot of enthusiasts were reaching for the off button . . . . . .
Those who missed the programme Thursday can catch up again as it's being repeated
Saturday 11 April at 8:00PM - National Geographic Channel
Sunday 12 April at 9:00PM - National Geographic Channel
I hope to see better in the rest of the series - next week's an E Type, followed by a Golf GTi, Corvette, Skyline, Audi Quattro and 1934 Morgan 3 Wheeler

Re: Car SOS.
He made it look so easy - either very powerful thinners or a poor paint job in the first place. I thought the original intention had been to leave the original paint but then the car got a respray after all - but without the high gloss normally seen.TerryG wrote:It was interesting to see Fuzz removing one layer of paint with thinners and the layer underneath remaining.

Just watched the E Type episode. Have to say that was one fantastic looking car once revealed.
Whilst I do love originality in a classic, seeing the paintwork on that Jag, in a similar colour to my Singer, has made me think my thoughts of a re-spray this winter are correct and will enhance her no end, putting her in good stead for the future.
Best convince the wife and ring Fuzz.

Re: Car SOS.
Not my favourite e-type model but definite automotive porn. a gorgous colour, definitely better than the factory white.
I was surprised how solid the car looked when stripped back. Every other e-type restoration I have seen the sills have been gone.
