I had dunlop alloys on my white anglia, in those days 30 quid for all 4 already re-furbed!

:lol: Well would you look at that, there was snow in London before thae few flakes fell in early 2009 and what's more, some people survived such atrocious weather.

Definitely go for the modern engine. In the 60's I had a 105E as a company car. Staying with my grandparents one weekend, my then, new wife and I, took my grandparents on a tour of Dorset. They lived in the county and before the war, grandfather had been a Dorset policeman, retiring in 1937. He pointed out various sites and the things he had done, and so on, he made it very interesting.

On that tour we had to ascend the hill near Abbotsbury. I really thought, that nearing the summit, it wouldn't reach the top, it did, but the thought of asking my grandparents to get out to lighten the car still haunts me to this day. A modern engine definitely, either that, or avoid serious inclines.

I have a "spare" 2.4 duratec waiting to go in to the next mog traveller I buy (if SWMBO ever lets me purchase another car after the grief of the current one). I love classic cars, I love original classic cars but for every day use you can't beat modern technology.

Sorry lads but no, the engine that's in it will stay in it. It's a 1500 Cortina GT motor and has also been lightly breathed upon so it's more than enough ooopmh. I've been told it propels the car off the (90mph) speedo so that's more than enough me thinks, I won't have to go digging up the grand parents for a push!

And Thanks Terry, I could sneak an EcoBoost out of where I work, or even a Volvo 6 cylinder OR a Jag V6/V8!!
