What's this?

#1 Post by JPB » Wed Oct 08, 2014 9:13 pm

There was a thread a while ago but it's fallen out of the active threads view, probably because it's far longer than I thought since it was alive. Meh, never mind, here's a mystery motor to have a guess at:

Image

Please only post another mystery vehicle if you were the clever bugger who guessed this one correctly, the prize for which is a freshly squashed grey squirrel with a genuine 1970s Michelin ZX tread print (155/82x13) across its furry little face.

And if you know for certain and didn't have to do any actual work to arrive at an answer, please abstain. ;)

Those are smiths gauges, a set sitting on the shelf above my bed helps :? , that blue makes
me think frog eyed sprite. But I know it can't be that as the dash is wrong and so is the gear
box tunnel.

Some of that looks a bit home made so I'll guess at a kit car rather than a production model - but which one I have no idea !

I expected that at least one of us would come to that conclusion so here are a couple of minor clues:

It's not a kit car  (nor is it a limited production special).

Its manufacturer was at one time the largest wholly independent vehicle maker in its country of origin.

It is only very slightly larger than a Spridget. And it's green. I have similar difficulties with red and brown, how the hell I haven't electrocuted myself yet is something of a mystery to me. ;)

Sorry Mal, close but no cigar.

Ooh, I love those! But no, our mystery car is larger and less sophisticated.

Yay! Squirrel trophy to that man.

It is indeed a Sabre, this one to be precise:

Pete: Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to find something even less easy to identify and post a sneaky image taken from an unfamiliar angle.

Ok, this was a British manufacturer, 72 were built between 1950 and 1956.
