Made my vacuum gauge work! It's an old proops one that sits in the radio console with the oil pressure gauge but it's never been connected because I vcouldn't find the adaptor. The old electric oil pressure gauge packed up so a root in the loft to find a capilliary one that I knew was up there somewhere also turned up the vacuum gauge's adaptors.....screwed into the oil pressure gauge's adaptors for 'safe keeping'.......same thread  so I swapped over the oil pressure gauge and adaptor and looked for somewher to tap the vacuum gauge off from. There's a blanking bolt in the manifold for a servo take-off, I haven't got a servo and have no intention of fitting one so I drilled and tapped the blanking bolt, hooked up the gauge, and now it's finally doing something entertaining.

Then of course for test purposes it was absolutely essential to go for a top down spin...had the door windows up though

I have just had to take my range to tow my mother-in-law out of the tesco carpark. it is amazing how many people are stuck and how many more morons there are with 4x4s still tearing about at 50!

Left my wife's modern Merc on the drive where it belongs and had an enjoyable safe trip to the in-laws in the Saab, the 2nd best car in the snow I've owned, the best was a basic peugeot 205, soft long travel suspension and skinny tyres.

I may have to investigate the heater by pass valve soon though, the heater blows vaguely warm at best.

Oh and picked up a 6ft long fridge freezer, freezing journey home though as the boot wouldn't quite shut and had the window open to beat the fumes back.

Well not to my classic. Spent the day at my parents and decided to clean my mother's MGB GT. I noticed that another 1000 miles had come up, so I got out my father's grease gun and did the usual bits. That grease gun dates from 1953 and was first used on my grandfather's Riley RM; it's done quite a few nice cars over the years. If tools could talk :!:

I changed my oil today, 3100 miles since last change. This time i have fitted an OEM oil filter so hopefully it will build pressure a bit quicker in the mornings!

I have just tried to change my dampers only to find that ALL the bolts are stuck. more annoyingly my grinder has a wire brush on it at the moment and i can't find the tool to change it so i went to B&Q in a huff and bought a dremel. Tomorrow i'll show those bolts who's boss!
