You do not need it just park next to any old rust bucket .....alfa romeo ......old land rovers...etc and the rust will migrate onto your car...make sure the rust has not too far to travel....about 3 meters should do fine ......

I find Halfords to be very useful for named basic items, my Bimmer takes 0/40 Castrol Edge fully synthetic which can cost about £60for 4L in a dealer but Halfords is nearly half price when they have an offer (20%) off a normal price of about £40. so I stock up then. My car uses 8 litres for an oil change.

They are also cheaper than Euro on Bosch wiper blades and headlight bulbs (2 for price 1) just like Boots!!

BUT the title of this thread is perfectly true, their website needs a drastic overhaul it is so difficult to find many items and as was said, many items shown as in stock can't be found when you arrive at the branch having reserved but unable to collect.

They have now started doing disabled equipment, everything up to powered wheelchairs and have brought prices down a lot compared to the rip off specialist sellers who I know are making in excess of a 100% mark up.

An additional bonus is the gorgeous checkout woman at the Staines branch !!

Gorgeous checkout woman at Staines you say. Hmm, sure & I can justify a 600 mile round trip for some switch cleaner and copper grease aerosols.

six hundred miles is a bit much, but years ago I have driven about that on a promise but wouldn't do it on the offchance.

If you can't find what you want she will walk around the store with you to see if there is a tool you would like to try.

I never found that copper grease ever got me off a speeding ticket but I was never a squealer.

My dad used to go out with the one-legged cashier from Halfords.

Aparently he'd be seen regularly with her at the local hop.

Horses for courses I guess as others have said it's a changing world, like anything else they have moved with the times. When was the last time you brought a pair of trousers and the man in the shop fussed around you with a tape measure now most of us pop down to George at Asda and buy off the rack - changing times! I've got a Halfords trade card and get my oil (classic 20/50 with the trade card only costs £13.99 a tin) and other bits and bobs there and am happy with that but then never expect them to stock bits for a 1949 Rover, I like there tools too
