Just been chatting to my local rust treatment man and he has a lovley Jensen Interceptor and a 1962 Alfa Romeo (can't recall the exact model sorry) stashed away at the back of his workshop, great cars, memorable conversation, had to drag myself away otherwise my car would never have got on the ramp.... :mrgreen:

I have seen to-day:

1. A Nice White Hard-top E-Type.
2. A red Lotus Elan
3. A white Citroen 2CV.

1. A nice red MGB with its roof down
2, A nice blue and white VW camper.

& yes, that's a library image, the one I spotted was white. Very nice it sounded too. That was a clue there.

Was Jeff Randall driving? Love the FD Victor/Ventora, very nice car. You must have seen a Ventora if it sounded nice.

Oh yes, a lovely motor, going by the side badge on that photo (which I appreciate is a stock image) I would hazard its a VX 4/90.
Mine was more standard, at least to start with, it had a 2 litre 4 cylinder lump of a type that found its way into many a Vauxhall shell. The prototype actually started life as a V8 with one set of cylinders removed, this meant that the main bearing (seven if memory serves
) could take pretty much any top end mod' your cared to carry out. I had mine bored out and re-pistoned to 2.8 litre by DTV with an overdrive box, gas flowed head and twin carbs.
It was quick. :?
I was trying to emulate the Black Prince 'special' but it would have made more sense to have stuck an old V8 in there as the rear axle was way over spec' .... we live and learn... :roll:

I really wanted a 69 Dodge Charger in matt black..... oh I was a right piece of work back then, Lol. :mrgreen:

'Twas a Ventora that I spied earlier, that IL6 can maybe trace its roots back to 1930s America but man can it sing!
The slant four in the Victor et al has five mains, tough things right enough, but for an IL4 that's also half of a V8 and that can last very well with correct servicing (look at the number of Saab 99s that have covered vast distances on them), then you need one of the following, which I actually did see today (not a library pic) and I see it every time I open the bonnet to add washer water to its tiny reservoir:

Meanwhile, there's a fella who lives around the corner and has a tractor obsession. I often hear him starting his '60s bit of agricultural kit but tonight I saw him as he drove it across the green to the pub. Must have a piccie of that here some time, IMHO.
