alternatives to MGB GT's?

#1 Post by maph2 » Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:44 pm

Its been suggested that I don't get a MGBGT if and when i sell my 99 turbo.

How about some suggestions for possible alternatives. requirements must be:-

a) minimum 2+2 seating
b) tax free
c) no bigger than a saab 99
d) easily available within a £3-3.5k budget
3) rwd

wouldn't mind a sunbeam alpine (probably rot boxs for my budget), reliant scimitars are a bit drab inside, quite like beetles but not favouring the engine layout or that i see them nearly every day.

cheers
Matt

GT6 would be my choice; but the rear seats are more akin to r/c cars than real car seats!

there is very little room in the back of a B GT - not really a 2+2. Triumph Stag, might get one for that money, might need a bit of work though?

I think you've missed requirement "B" Rich ;)

Your making the right choice not to buy a MGB, they are ten a penny around here and do nothing for me, What do you need from a car?, Does it need to be a sporty open top or can it been a family car like a Viva or a Escort or better still a 105E, I'm sure you can still pick up half decent examples of them for under £3.5k.
