Hello everybody, I'm Simon from sunny Southsea. I have owned my Mercedes 280SE 3.5 litre V8 (W108) for just under 4 years now, and its taken that long for my Dad and I to replaced a cam shaft with completely round lobes (no oil feed), and head gasket. Yes......slow

I now have some new inspiration to change up a gear with the resto, my step daughter is getting married in October and wants Marlena to be her wedding car. I've now started the body work....gulp.

The car looks ok from across the street but on closer inspection. All four door bottoms are gone (found three better ones), around sunroof is scabby, rear wheel arches, and im sure the sills will need some help although i haven't been brave enough to remove the thick black coating on them yet!

The good news is the interior is very nice with indestructible MBtex seats.

That is soooo gorgeous. There's an elderly chap in Moston,(north of Manchester) who drives a W111 or 112,not sure.
Does your Merc have the kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection?

Thanks guys, it has Bosh D-Jetronic injection. I've just had a quote for the painting and I was quite pleased with it, so I will soon be stripping off all the mountains of chrome and trim. I'd better label everything and take plenty of pics.

Good luck with this, I have a very big soft spot for these cars (currently own a 280SEL 4.5 and 2 6.3's). Great cars. The 3.5 engine is a delight.
