Hello all:

Have subscribed to the print edition of PC for many years and always found it the best all-round classics read; committed but not obsessive, with a wry sense of self-mocking going through it - just my kind of thing.

Had enough of car club forums now - too intense and all wrong; some of those people need to be forcibly moved to a pub to talk it out over a pint - they must develop chronic ulcers from their screen-raging...

I'm a lifelong Benz man, currently driving a 1998 R129 SL500 with the adaptive damping system recently overhauled - a masterpiece of engineering.

Previous classic vehicles include a 1986 R107 $20 SL and a 1981 R107 380 SL, along with a 1972 W114 280CE.

Looking forward to getting involved in the forum.

Best regards to you all
John Moser

Thanks Terry - you know what I mean guv!

Goodness me... whether a 1976 450 SL should have tungsten or aluminium rear lens reflectors shouldn't, as Woody Allen put it, 'end up like a scene from Murder Inc'

Welcome to the forum John.

The pub meets aren't totally dead. I've seen the article in the mag too.
I've seen quite a few 90s Mercs starting to rust. Your's isn't a classic yet but give it a few more years and it will be...

The W123 was the best car Mercedes ever made with the W126 (2nd generation S Class) a close second.
