The forum seems slow, is it just me?

#1 Post by pryantcc » Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:29 pm

Hi,
I have to wait for about 15 seconds after each click to navigate around the new forum. Does everyone else have this experience, or is it just me?
Thanks,
Paul.

It's a little bit slow on my computer too - i'll have to check the usage stats / space when i get home. Thing is, i don't really want to spend too much money on the forum if i can help it, it's cost me quite a bit already.

Perhaps i should put a paypal contributions button on the forum?

That was a joke by the way...

Yep, things get complicated when money is involved. I was just curious whether the problem related only to me, or if it was a wider issue. I've no idea what it costs to run the forum, but I'd probably throw in a few quid if that was what was required to keep it going....

No, not just you, seems quite slow to me too. Hey, it's early days, I'm sure there will be lots of improvements along the way.

:D

It doesn't seem slow to me. certainly no slower than the old one.
I would be quite happy to contribute to the running costs of the forum. It is a valueable resource.
Definitely worth setting up a donations button.

Buzzing along here, maybe this slowness affects only WindoZe users? Ubuntu 10.1 FTW! ;)

It's quick with Windoze xp sp2, vista (with sp1 or sp2) and 7. either internet explorer 7, 8 or 9beta and firefox (guess what workstations i have in my test environment).
It could be a routing issue but i suspect it is more that there is a restricted amount of bandwith to the forum and 50 concurrent users flatted it out for a moment.

Not had a problem here really, couple of times there's been a lag, which I expect is all down to the servers the site is hosted on. I think every website/forum has a few go slow days now and again.

It's still pretty sluggish here guys. I don't know how to test other than by a trace route which doesn't look too bad! No big deal, it just take a bit longer to snoop around and see what's been going on...
