Tyre fitting to wires near Ipswich

Know of a good garage, mechanic, sprayer, supplier in your area? Why not post their details here. Please only post if you have actually used and received good service from this person or place AS A CUSTOMER. Also if you can put the area in the title that will be helpful - when we have enough we'll separate them into Counties / Shires. Tyre fitting to wires near Ipswich

#1 Post by suffolknick » Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:29 am

Hi

I'm after a new tyre on a wire wheel with a knock on hub, and need it balancing too. Anyone know of a fitter near Ipswich where I could get this done who would have the necessary cones and take care of the rim band etc.

Thanks
Nick

Ah, the old name plagiariser is back. What car is it? If it something popular like a Jaguar or MG, or Triumph, they have a large club presence in the area and are bound to know of somewhere. Or you could join East Anglian Practical Classics, Only £12 a year including 11 issues of their excellent Newsletter and plenty of people with this sort of knowledge. www.ea-pc.co.uk I find e-tyres very helpful. They have the necessary jig to balance my strange French wheels with no hole in the centre and may be able to do wires as well.

Hiya Peter

Hope you are well. It's a Morgan Plus 4... but you probably wouldn't let me in as it's 2012.

Thanks
Nick

Put a personal plate on it and nobody will know the difference. ;) Got rid of the campervan then? I will enquire on our Facebook page.

Yep... gone to a good home in Ireland would you believe.

Now just need to get the Morgan going as well and reliably as the van...

Thanks :-)

Let's hope it doesn't take two engine changes then. :) I've had a strong recommendation from a Club member with a large collection of vintage cars for Melton Tyres.

In the end I used a local fitter who were ok. But to cure the major wheel wobble of my existing tyres I ended up at Evergreen Garage in Crowfield. Highly recommended. Very classic friendly, thorough and great value.
