Five years eh, and now you are back. Well let me tell you we want to see a note from your Mum explaining your absence. No forgeries now. And we want to see a blow by blow account of that 105E's tidy up. No excuses now and don't wimp off.
I shall be asking questions later.

Would be cheaper if it ran. Then I could put it on a RORO carrier and pay about £800. However as it doesn't drive it needs to go on a container so will be about £1600 plus some important fees.
Still a lot cheaper than buying one here.

I didn't
Not much news at the moment. I'm busy organising shipping and also procuring parts as the 105E owners club wont ship parts to the US. I have decided to just replace all the service items and all the brake components.
I also bought an MPH odometer off eBay, along with some bits of trim missing and the heater blow switch.

No, cars have to be empty when shipped. However I can add a box of parts on a pallet so am doing that.

Well, shipping is no provisionally booked for June 12th! So I should receive it later that month. In the meantime my brother and dad started looking over it today to see what it needs to get running. I have a new stainless exhaust system being sent there next week for starters.
In the meantime, there was a lot of dirt and dry matter under the rocker cover!
It all hoovered up just fine I'm told, and was pretty clean otherwise.
When my dad got it in 2014 it did turn over but wouldnt today, so diesel has been left in the bores for a few days and it should free up.
Magic eye time!
Bores look good, but those eagle eyed will see that both valves are open on cylinder 3. Hopefully a persuasive tap on the top of the valve stem will free it off.
Fuel tank is empty with some residual gunk in there:
It's rust free though which is good. I'm looking at the best ways to clean it out. I;ve read putting a load of marbles in there to agitate dirt, then washing it with water and cleaner does the trick but I'm all ears.
Finally, the underneath looks solid with one 2 small patches that need welding.

Re: I'm back! Ford Anglia 106e (Estate)
I used gravel in the tank on my Midget, shake it around a lot and it cleans it pretty well - it's REALLY hard work to shake it though, with all the weight. Marbles wouldn't be abrasive enough I would have thought. IIRC I then flushed all the muck out with soapy water and then a hose. I dried it by removing the sender plate and poking a hairdryer in there for a few hours on a gentle setting - worked fine.
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Thanks LB. I'll consider that.Luxobarge wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 8:45 amI used gravel in the tank on my Midget, shake it around a lot and it cleans it pretty well - it's REALLY hard work to shake it though, with all the weight. I was told today that it was discovered that the rocker shaft was seized. When that was removed all the valves closed easily. Therefore they are now leaving the shaft in soak and will dismantle/clean it up. The diesel in the bores also worked, engine now turns over!
