Saturday evening arrives and our attendance at The National Car Club Awards is requested (held within the NEC) - Needless to say we were delighted to collect the award for The Best Large Stand display at the awards - competing against some other 132 car clubs - this is no mean feat has we are in the same category has the major clubs who have thousands of members, corporate sponsors, disposable income, retained staff & all the resources that come with it - whilst we have circa 500 members and have to self fund raise to attend the show in the first place - Obviously we are doing something right (without being overly smug) has this is our fourth consecutive win - Then much to our surprise comes the icing on the cake - out of some 1,000 cars the little Jowett Tiller is awarded 'Best Restored Car' in the show

The Bradford engine rebuild continues and in order to prove the build the engine is actually started and run live at the show

Sunday evening arrives and it's time to pack up and head home - the Javelin is now back with one of my fellow members and will continue to be fitted up over the next few months - I will update on the progress as it happens - several of the team are still recovering from their efforts at the show and I am on a bit of go slow for the rest of the week - but still well worth it - it offers a small relatively unknown car club the opportunity to enter the limelight and earn the media attention that it richly deserves - right then on with the next projects - updates coming very soon

I enjoyed our little chat at the weekend. The Javelin looks even better in reality than it does in the photos. Your award was richly deserved, keep up the good work.

I have been following this restoration for some time and had seen the car on two previous occasions but had to miss the show this year, much to my disappointment. You have done an amazing job as well as the upheaval of moving house and changing jobs twice as well !!

I hope the owner appreciates the hard work you have put into this project and you were suitably rewarded . . . .

Good luck with the new business and I'm sure we all look forward to your next report

Mike

I was going to say hi but when I came by there was a hive of activity with some poor soul underneath sounding like he was drilling holes in the boot floor! Left you all to get on with the work!!

Anyone see the gent taking paint off the red AlfaSud with a heatgun and scraper?!?!?

So the work in the workshop needs to keep flowing so a little paint job on a Vespa scooter of early 1950's vintage - supplied to me shot blasted and in bits - Whilst solid there is not a straight panel on it

So I need to progress the Bradford van but also just arrived is a 1952 Jowett Jupiter for a full body restoration - chassis has already been done by the owner - mainly alloy bodied on a chassis of ERA (English Racing Automobiles) design, all round torsion bar suspension, Jowett flat 4 boxer - water cooled engine - this particular car has been with it's current owner for some 49 years who has rallied / raced the car in some 27 countries - although continually maintained this is the first complete rebuild of the car in it's 65 year history with much of the car now being returned to road specification
